Celebrity Costume Jewellery

Wednesday, 22 September 2010 15:13:59 BST

Costume jewellery crystal was initially made popular by Swarovski who introduced a unique technique to the fashion world that enabled famous designers such as Dior and Chanel to apply crystals to garments. From this innovation the Flapper dress was born which resulted in a fashion craze which would last for decades.

Since the 1920s when the Flapper dress became popularised costume jewellery crystal has been used in increasingly creative ways. Handbags, shoes and Michael Jackson’s famous glove have all been adorned with crystals, not to mention jewellery such as rings and necklaces.

You can now see A-list stars glide down the red carpet wearing costume jewellery crystals. Recently Kate Moss and Jennifer Lopez have both been spotted at celeb events wearing pieces with sparkly crystals.

Nowadays the line between celebrity high end versus high street fashion has thinned considerably now you can pick up dresses and costume jewellery which were seen on the stars only a few weeks earlier. This has meant everyone can now obtain the look of the stars without the associated price tag.

It’s no secret celebrities are trend setters as far as fashion goes all you have to do is look in a magazine to see double page spreads of who is wearing what where. But it’s the fashion designers and stylists which really push the style boundaries forward.

If you want to stay ahead of the game you can look at what the celebs are wearing and find similar products online. Many online retailers such as From the Posh Shop can respond quickly to changing trends as we do not have to worry about shop space and distribution to multiple outlets. Fashion trends change so fast it can be really expensive to try and keep up. To combat this you should choose costume jewellery crystal rings and necklaces which will go with multiple outfits. Look at wearability over different seasons to make the most of your purchase. Check out our range of fabulous costume jewellery and get the look of your favourite celebrity.
